In anticipation of East United’s public opening on September 26th, Andiel Homes, Berkshire Axis Development, and Signature Communities hosted a private concert headlined by Toronto-based band Young Empires last night in the back lot behind the sales centre at 95 Berkeley.

The pop-up concert was the prize for the East vs. West Instagram campaign, which was won by east ender Brittany Eldridge. Brittany invited 30 of her closest friends for the private concert, which is a nod to the amenity spaces at East United because there will be a jam room available for residents who are musicians.

“For so long the west has been the default district for arts, culture and shopping in Toronto but that’s starting to change,” says Leslie Marlowe, president of Berkshire Axis Development, who introduced the band on stage last night. “The east end has its champions and we wanted to reward one with a private concert. This is a celebration of the east side and the people who live here.”

The public opening of East United will coincide with the King East Design District’s annual Life.Style.Fair festival. The developers of East United invited the project's interior designers at the DesignAgency to create an installation titled “Why I Love My City at East United.”

The art installation will be comprised of hundreds of coloured post-its that will make up two images representing the urban and natural environments offered by the east end of Toronto. The installation is also interactive, encouraging people to write love notes to Toronto on the post-its. Why I Love My City at East United will be on display at the sales centre from 10 am to 5 pm on September 26th.
