Construction Update: Residences at RCMI on University by Tribute
By Lucas on Nov 12, 2012
Earlier this week, we headed up to University and Dundas to check out how far along Tribute Communities has come on their high-rise project, Residences at RCMI on University.
It looks like RCMI is about 19 or 20 storeys high now, which means that Tribute is about halfway! When complete, RCMI will stand 42 storeys, rising above the buildings on either side of it. The design of RCMI is sleek and very simple, but it suits the area; the border between the Financial District and the University of Toronto campus.
RCMI is rising from a very narrow floorplate, but Tribute made it work. The slim facade is actually quite eye-catching, and will be even more so once the glass-cladding starts going up.
We like this location at 426 University Ave.; it’s central, close to work, close to school, it’s on the University subway line, and it’s a short walk to trendy neighbourhoods like Queen St. West, and other amenities, like the Eaton Centre.
RCMI is made for young professionals and investors. There are only one-bedroom and one-bedroom+den units, and the sizes range from 494 to 763 square feet. If you work right downtown, this is the perfect location for you because work is probably within walking distance. If you are looking to invest in downtown property, and then rent it out once completed, there is always an abundance of students attending the University of Toronto who need a place to rent - sometimes for up to four years!
Tribute Communities is making some real progress at Residences at RCMI on University, and depending on the kind of winter we have, it should be finished at some point in 2013.
