Construction Update: Post House Condominium
By Lucas on Apr 17, 2013
We love when developers and architects creatively incorporate Toronto’s historical buildings into their new condo designs. Some great examples include Five Condos at St. Joseph and The Massey Tower - both by MOD Developments.
One project that is doing an excellent job of honouring the city’s past is Post House Condominium by Alterra. The building, which will be built directly behind Toronto's first post office, may not incorporate the physical structure of the post office into the design, but honours its importance.
An update on Post House Condominium
Recently, we headed out to Post House to check out the construction progress. As you can see from the photos, Post House is almost at grade. Alterra’s team has put in some serious work over the past six months, and we look forward to seeing just how far they can get in another six! By the time Post House is completed, it will stand 21 storeys.
Post House Condominium’s excellent location and suites
Post House is located at George St. and Adelaide St. East. Post House will be steps from some of Toronto’s most desirable locales, including the famous St. Lawrence Market, the Financial District, and the Distillery District. Post House is a chic, ultra-modern residence in a heritage setting - how could you go wrong? There’s something for everyone at Post House, with suites ranging from one-bedrooms to penthouses. Each suite boasts an open concept layout, allowing for spacious living. The oversized balconies and terraces will be perfect for entertaining. Each suite comes with a tastefully designed kitchen, featuring stone countertops, European designed cabinets, and other impressive finishes. The historical aspect of Post House Condominium
Originally built in 1833, the post office is the first of its kind in Toronto. When the post office first opened, it was the only communication point between Toronto and the rest of the world. After years of decay, the post office was restored to its original grandeur. Today, it is a symbol of Toronto’s rich past, and serves as the inspiration to this unique condominium.
We will continue to track Alterra’s construction progress at Post House, so stay tuned for more information!
