According to Urbanation’s Twitter feed, Concert Properties has just purchased the Canadian Tire site at 5365 Dundas St. West in Etobicoke. This site holds a lot of potential, and we are very excited to see what Concert proposes for it!
The potential of 5365 Dundas St. West
Urbanation’s tweet also says that there was an application submitted for the site back in 2003 that called for five buildings, with heights reaching up to 33 storeys, and approximately 1,590 residential units.
Will we see a similar proposal from Concert? 10 years is a long time in the real estate game, Concert may be able to get approval for a larger scale development.
5365 Dundas St. West is a very important site because of it’s location between Highway 427 and Kipling GO Station and Subway Station. A multi-tower, mixed-use development would fit in perfectly because residents would have all their north and southbound transportation routes via the 427, and downtown Toronto would be steps away thanks to the subway.
There are a number of parks in the area, including Cloverdale park, Greenfield Park, and Silverhill Park. A collection of restaurants line Dundas, as well as shops and big box stores like Winners. Also, there are a few schools within a short driving distance.
If Concert builds a large scale development at 5365 Dundas St. West, it will serve as a convenient urban hub for people who desire city living on the edge of the downtown core.
