Conan O’Brien Takes a Hit on Los Angeles Estate
By Lucas on Dec 12, 2012
Conan O’Brien, is a man of many trades - writing, performing, hosting, producing - the works. The entertainment industry is his main game, and he makes a killing. One thing he’s not good at? The real estate game. Whomp whomp.
Back in January 2008, Conan O’Brien purchased a luxurious estate in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles for an easy $10,750,000. Well, news has broken that earlier this year, Conan let it go for just $9,250,000. That’s a $1.5 million hit! Not including any upgrades he made over the four years he lived there.
It is possible that the upgrades he made were very minimal because the 2008 listing of the home states that it already featured six bedrooms, 8.5 bathrooms, six fireplaces, 10’ ceilings, a temperature controlled wine room, a screening room, an outdoor kitchen, a 60’ veranda, a pool, and a spa.
That seems to cover all your typical celebrity amenities. The only thing he is missing is a state-of-the-art gym, which he may have added, and maybe a grotto. Hopefully Conan didn’t shell out too much upgrading this already fancy Los Angeles estate, we wouldn’t want him to feel strapped for cash.
Oh wait, you can add a bit more to his losses. Apparently, the home he is living in now is one that he purchased on the down-low back in June 2011 in the Pacific Palisades for about $20 million.
Okay, okay, so that’s not necessarily more of a loss, but if this Pacific Palisades home shares the same fate as the Brentwood one, then Conan might need to look into some real estate investing tips!
There was also a rumour floating about back in 2010 that Conan listed his New York apartment for a whopping $35 million, but ended up settling for a measly $25 million.
What’s that? Oh, you’re right. He’s Conan O’Brien, so a few million bucks down the drain doesn’t really matter!
