Marlin Spring COO Zev Mandelbaum (fourth from right) joined colleagues and dignitaries who recently hoisted shovels to mark the Official Groundbreaking Celebration for CANVAS Condominiums on Danforth Avenue. Over 90 % sold, CANVAS is located steps from the TTC subway and close to Greektown and The Beach. Occupancy is slated for June 2019. We recently had the pleasure of attending the groundbreaking ceremony for Canvas Condominiums in Toronto by Marlin Spring. Demolition is complete and the digging has begun!
The Marlin Spring team, purchasers, and other development team members were in attendance to celebrate the project’s milestone.
“It’s truly a momentous occasion here – we’ve finally come to the groundbreaking ceremony of a condominium that took so much effort and so many different people together – coming together, working together – to create,” announced Zev Mandelbaum, COO Marlin Spring.
He gave shoutouts to the architect Graziani & Corazza, the interior designer U31, and everyone else that put in so much work to make the project a success up to this point. The architects especially deserve a pat on the back because of the size of the condo. With 285 feet of frontage on Danforth, it’s the widest stretch of building on the street!
“This project was really cutting edge in design,” Mandelbaum explained. “It’s an iconic presence on the Danforth.”
Without a doubt, the Danforth area between Woodbine and Main has a promising future. Some may even credit the amount of condo development in the pipeline for attracting young buyers and new businesses.
“The Danforth is known to be a family-friendly place, it’s a place to raise children, a place where there’s parks – Stephenson’s Park’s right beside us – it’s a place where there’s new homes coming, there’s new young couples coming,” added Mandelbaum. “When we started off, there were strollers walking down the street…and every time I’ve come back, there’ve been more and more and more.”
Tom McGee, representing MPP Arthur Potts, was in attendance as well to welcome the new neighbours and to thank Marlin Spring for the design and development of Canvas Condominiums.
“We have seen some great reinvigoration of the Danforth, the entire stretch through the riding, and all three levels of government have a role in that,” said McGee. “We’re obviously
really pleased to see this come about. We also want to welcome all the new neighbours that we’re going to have here. There’s a lot of great little businesses popping up and a lot of excitement, a lot of community organizations that play a big role in tree lightings and parades and arts fairs, so welcome to the neighbourhood and we hope to see you soon.”
Marlin Spring really embraced the family vibe with the design of their floor plans. The Canvas Marketing Consultant, Linda Mitchell Young, explained that the units were designed with end-users in mind.
“Breaking ground is always an exciting time,” Young announced. “This will put us on schedule for the purchasers to be moving in in the summer of 2019.”
