Builders Run Bases for a Good Cause
By Lucas on Jun 16, 2014
Recently, 16 homebuilder baseball teams competed in a Charity Softball Tournament to raise money for Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Sponsored by the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD), Democrat Homes, Enbridge, Fieldgate Homes, Homes Publishing Group, PMA Brethour Realty Group, Sun-Brite Drapery, and the Toronto Star, the charity tournament was a huge success!
Usually, when we visit builders, we’re in a sales centre environment or on a construction site. It was a nice change of pace to hang out on the ball diamond up at Richmond Green in Richmond Hill. Everyone was in the mood for some friendly competition and excited to be swinging away for a good cause.
We stopped in at the Fieldgate Homes and PMA Brethour game first thing in the morning. It was a close one, but PMA came away with the win. Then we caught the OPUS Homes and RN Design game, which RN won. Later on, we watched Fieldgate and OPUS go head to head. They may be teaming up at Aurora Trails, but on the diamond, it’s a whole new ball game, literally. As for fun team names, Fieldgate Warriors was pretty good. Another one of our favourites was the Lindvest Red Rebels.
Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to organizing the community, industry professionals, and volunteers to develop affordable housing. Habitat for Humanity GTA is just one of 65 Canadian Habitat affiliates. Around the world, Habitat for Humanity International has improved or built over 600,000 homes, providing shelter for more than 3 million people.
Congratulations to all the participants in the Charity Softball Tournament!
