Daniels and Toronto Community Housing Celebrate the Grand Opening of TWO New BIXI Stations in Regent Park
The Daniels Corporation and Toronto Community Housing recently celebrated the grand opening of two new BIXI TORONTO stations in Regent Park. Daniels and Toronto Community Housing staff, residents and community partners came out to the event, where local Councillor Pam McConnell was on hand to mark the occasion. The grand opening marked a milestone in the sustainability and green nature of this evolving area, as well as Toronto as a whole. Participants enjoyed face painting and balloon animals for the kids, refreshments from the nearby Tim Hortons, and had the opportunity to speak with a BIXI representative to find out how to use the innovative bike network.
Sponsored by Daniels, the two BIXI stations in Regent Park add yet another convenient transportation opportunity for area residents. Integrating the community into its thriving surroundings is an important part of the revitalization design, and this has been achieved through the reintroduction of cross streets that also tie into the City grid and enable traffic to move more fluidly throughout the entire area.
