Final sales statistics released by the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) for January sales show a positive start to 2011.
According to RealNet Canada, BILD's official source of new home market information, January witnessed 2,026 new home and condominium sales.
The total sales where down 13% against January of 2010, however it is still the second highest level in the past 11 years.
High Rise sales in the Greater Toronto Area continue to look strong, with 931 total sales in January.
"January is not a heavily weighted month in the grand scheme of things, but sales of over 2,000 units in January bodes well for the spring market," Stephen Dupuis, BILD President and CEO said.
The strongest market in January was the Halton Region, which witnessed 21 sales, up 72.4 percent on its 2010 numbers.
