August: Walkability Month
By Lucas on Aug 01, 2013
August is upon us - the last month of summer - so we had to select a theme to celebrate the beautiful weather we get in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) at this time every year. We are proud to announce that August will be Walkability Month!
If you’re at all involved in the real estate industry, you have probably heard of the website WalkScore.com. Many developers, such as Tridel and Easton’s Group, have used it to promote how “walkable” the neighbourhood in which they’re building is. Recently, Toronto ranked third as one of the most walkable cities in Canada on Walk Score.
For the entire month of August, we will be visiting different neighbourhoods throughout the GTA, taking photos, finding out what their Walk Scores are, and then listing all the new condo and low-rise developments that are currently planned for them.
We’ll be focusing on downtown Toronto, some areas slightly to the north of the core, and we’ll even check out some waterfront neighbourhoods and suburbs.
If there are any neighbourhoods in Toronto in which you are particularly interested, please let us know, and we will attempt to fit it into our schedule! You can contact lucas@homebuyers.com with any requests.
Also, if there is anyone out there who would like to participate in Walkability Month, whether you are an aspiring photographer who loves to capture the city, or you just want to talk about how amazing your neighbourhood is, contact us and let us know!
We have always admired all the different neighbourhoods within the GTA. We think it’s pretty safe to say that we have one of the most diverse city fabrics in all of North America, possibly the world, and we cannot wait to explore a few of them in depth.
We hope Walkability Month helps you find a neighbourhood in which you would love to live, or at least creates a new sense of appreciation for the many different parts of our city.
