Amazon partners with homebuilder to showcase smart home technology

Amazon recently announced a partnership with US homebuilder, Lennar, to open Amazon Experience Centers in new home communities in cities across the states.
The Amazon Experience Centers are in model homes in Lennar communities in Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington DC. The purpose of the Experience Centers is to give people the opportunity to experience the potential of Amazon’s smart home products.
“We wanted customers to experience a real home environment that showcases the convenience of the Alexa smart home experience, great entertainment available with Prime, and Home Services,” says Nish Lathia, general manager, Amazon Services, in a release. “We are excited to extend our relationship with Lennar with the launch of Amazon Experience Centers. As one of the nation’s largest homebuilders, Lennar offers the potential to enable this experience within easy driving distance of millions of customers.”
Basically, you get to see what it’s like to have Amazon, Alexa, and Prime all working seamlessly together in your home to make your life easier and more convenient.
There are countless tiny and seemingly quick actions you take every day that can be automated so you have more time to do the things you enjoy. For example, you could wake up and say “Alexa, good morning” and the shades would open and your morning playlist would start to play.
At the end of the day, while you’re in bed, you could say “Alexa, good night,” and your lights would dim, the doors would lock, and the thermostat would adjust to a cooler temperature. Of course, all these presets are customizable to your liking.
In a smart home powered by Amazon, you can control your televisions, lights, thermostat, shades, and much more just with your voice. Say the doorbell rings but you’re watching your favourite show. Just ask Alexa to show you who’s at the door and your front door camera view will pop up on your device of choice.
The Prime subscription also comes with Fire TV and 2 million songs on Prime Music, so all your entertainment bases are covered.
The Amazon Dash Button gives you the power to order household essentials at the push of a button. You can even schedule auto-deliveries so you don’t forget to order something. Never run out of toilet paper again.
There are also peace of mind features like receiving notifications when loved ones get home. For example, if your children get home from school while you’re still at work, you can rest easy knowing they’ve arrived safely.
We don’t mean to make this sound like an advertisement for Amazon. We’re just sharing the exciting details with you. What we’re mostly excited about is the fact that Amazon teamed up with a big US builder to roll out these Experience Centers.
“Amazon’s ability to bring a home to life with Alexa smart home experiences, entertainment and services – coupled with their obsession with customer experience – is a natural extension of our Everything’s Included approach to homebuilding,” says David Kaiserman, president of Lennar Ventures. “We picked Amazon because of our shared commitment to customers, their Amazon experts across the country, and their ability to connect customers with thousands of service providers through Amazon Home Services.”
It’d be amazing if a builder or developer in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) partnered with Amazon to open up some Canadian Experience Centres across the region.
It won’t be long before smart home features are more common as standard offerings in new homes and condos in the GTA!
