A sneak peek of the Canvas Condominium presentation centre and model suite

Newinhomes.com recently had the opportunity to visit the Canvas Condominium presentation centre to learn more about the highly anticipated development by Marlin Spring. We met up with Canvas Condominium Marketing Consultant, Linda Mitchell Young, to tour the model suite and talk about the initial success of the project.
As soon as we stepped into the presentation centre, we were impressed. The two friendly faces at the welcome desk were very helpful and polite, and the size of the space allows for comfortable browsing. There are decorative elements, a beautifully intricate scale model, touchscreen brochures on the wall, and soaring windows. If the presentation centre is any indication of how Canvas Condominium will be built, we can’t wait to see this building come to life.
“What you see is what you get,” said Mitchell as we entered the model suite. “When you invest in a condo you want to know what you’re paying for.” The model suite is mostly standard including the quartz countertops, high quality laminate flooring, and stainless steel appliances. The built-ins in the den, bedroom, and walk-in closet simply show a potential use for the space.
The model on display is the Velazquez, which is a 650 square foot one-bedroom+den unit. Marlin Spring decided to showcase the Velazquez because it’s an average representation of the size available in the building. The model suite is sleek and contemporary, so it wasn’t a surprise to hear that this plan has sold well with only a few remaining.
The majority of purchasers have been homeowner occupiers. In the design of the building and floor plans, Marlin Spring strategically catered to homeowner occupiers by creating larger layouts and more two-bedroom plans than one-bedrooms.
“We made sure that when we were designing the space, the living/dining room where you spend most of your time, included nice functional layouts with no wasted space,” she said. “Many suites have walk-in closets in some of the bedrooms, and enough wall space to actually fit a dresser in your bedroom and even a daybed in the den, similar to what we show in the model suite.”
There have also been a lot of first-time buyers showing interest in Canvas Condominium thanks to the up-and-coming location and extra space you get for your money. Woodbine and Danforth is on the verge of a big transformation and Canvas Condominium is one of the developments that’s going to spur the neighbourhood into a hot spot for young couples and families.
“We have seen a lot of first-time buyers. They’re looking at opportunities to get into home ownership because anything ground oriented is totally out of reach,” Mitchell said. “These buyers are familiar with the area and like the access to Leslieville, local shops and restaurants.”
A lot of new shops and trendy restaurants are popping up along Danforth, and there’s still a lot to come. “People are recognizing that this area is changing,” Mitchell said. “To the west of us, the Greektown area is very popular and we’re really starting to see the area grow. This neighbourhood has everything you need, especially the transportation. For anyone looking for subway access, you have two subway stops (Woodbine and Main) within walking distance, and the GO Train.”
