5 reasons you should buy a new home in Windsor
By Lucas on Aug 24, 2017
With the upcoming VIP Opening of Central Park, a new community in Windsor by NOC Development, we want to share a few reasons why you should consider buying a new home in Windsor.
1) Open Streets Windsor
More than 100 cities in North America have welcomed the Open Streets program, and Windsor is now one of them! This is the largest free recreational program in the city’s history.
An 8 km stretch from Sandwich to Ford City will be closed to vehicular traffic to make way for fun, healthy, and engaging activities. There will be cycling, yoga, dancing, fitness classes, and many other programs offered by local businesses.
The Open Streets event proves that Windsor values its community and promotes a healthy lifestyle from a physical and emotional perspective.
2) Windsor 125 / Canada 150
The whole country is celebrating Canada 150, and Windsor is also celebrating its 125th anniversary!
Throughout the year, there are events bringing together local businesses, organizations, government, and community members. There will be charity walks, lectures, a food festival, and much more!
Clearly, Windsor has a rich history that’s worth celebrating.
3) New walking tour
The new Sandwich Heritage Walking Tour just launched in Windsor! Yes, this sounds delicious, but it’s not that kind of sandwich. The self-guided tour provides a wealth of information about the former Town of Sandwich, the historic community, and the beautiful buildings.
Respecting your city’s history is a major pillar of establishing a strong, family-oriented community.
4) Smoke-Free Windsor
A new city bylaw now restricts smoking on city owned properties like parks, conservation areas, marinas, recreation facilities, and on any parking lot or walkway. Smoking is also prohibited within 9 meters of any municipal building.
The bylaw also applies to “cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes, hookah/water pipes and any other lighted or heated equipment used to smoke or vaporize any tobacco or non-tobacco product.”
The city is protecting the health of its residents and promoting an overall healthier lifestyle with this new bylaw!
5) Ontario supporting economic growth
The province partnered with 10 Windsor businesses to support growth, providing funding for 178 new jobs and to retain 384 jobs.
“Ontario is investing in Windsor’s manufacturing sector to help these forward-thinking companies boost economic growth, strengthen the manufacturing sector and create good jobs in the region,” says Jeff Leal, the Minister Responsible for Small Business. “Through the Southwestern Development Fund, we are enabling innovative companies to expand and adopt new technologies in order to sharpen their competitive edge and strengthen Ontario’s economy.”
Ontario recognizes Windsor’s value, so you should too!
